Surestart Grant backlog?

Has anyone applied recently and heard anything? I applied three and a half weeks ago, and the number is constantly busy - it just hangs up on you!

Any positive news would be most welcome!

  • Is it a social fund grant? If it is then i have found the same thing trying to find out about a CCGrant. I have heard social fund grants are taking a couple of months to go through. Does not help when you really need the money

It really depends on your office, you will need to keep ringing to find out. I'm under the sheffield office and applied on the 28th September, the money went into my bank on the 3rd October yet I know people in other areas that have been waiting for more than 6 weeks so far :(

Keep trying the number and they will be able to give you more of an idea how long your expected wait is.

Hope it's not too far away for you :) good luck!

  • Managed to get through this morning at just after 8.30am.

Am really cross - they havent recieved my application form yet, as I sent it to my local jobcentre rather than to them direct - but this is what Job Centre Plus told me to do as I printed the forms from the internet and there was no address. Luckily I sent it recorded and know it was signed for.

They are currently working on forms recieved on the 1st October.
