I suppose it's better to spread it around. I've got A/Cs, mostly bonds, with lots of Building Societies in the UK and Ireland (decent old fashioned Building Socities like Dunfermline, Scottish BS, Principality, Nationwide, Century, Newcastle, Progresive etc). I also have money in NSAI as well as the max in premium bonds and Isas.
I have an A/C with Coutts and I was surpised but pleased to read that although they are part of the RBS group they do have their own license. I tend to role my bonds over at the end of the period and always look for a decent interest rate to transfer some of my Coutts dosh. I opened a 9 month bond with Bank of Ireland a few weeks ago and got over 7% so pretty good.
I travel a lot and I do give myself the luxury of business class where you can have a lovely sleep. On my last flight from Japan I slept for 8 hours which I could never do in normal class. Also used "economy plus" with a few airlines and it's well worth it if you can afford it.0
