Unable to access website. What's blocking it?

Hi,

Have been trying to access confused.com for a few days, with no success at all, and it is now officially driving me nuts!

All other websites appear ok, I have disabled zonealarm, other spyware apps (spywareblaster and spybot s&d) on my main PC, have actually removed them from my laptop, and still no joy.

I've tried to "ping" the site, but that doesn't work either - 100% packet loss, timed out.

My ISP is Pipex (can't imagine they'd block Confused), and I have been able to access the site a month or so ago.

Totally stumped, any ideas?

Thanks!

Annoying problem. I just tried that site from different browsers and it opens so it's not that. Do you normally have to register - could it be a cookie problem?

I have a few sites that I can't use either and when I've contacted the owners (I know them) they said it was because they had just uploaded new scripts because of hackers and my comp can't seem to override the new software. Is this possible for you?

Odd, have you tried clearing out your browser cache. try running CCleaner.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I cant understand why you can access it, how far do you get, can you see the web page or can you not use the site
  • Yup, tried ccleaner already.
Just spoke to Pipex (on their premium rate support line), they're not blocking. Aaargh!

DCFC79 - Not seeing the site at all. Getting "Page Load Error" Network timeout. Takes about 20 seconds from a page refresh to timing out.

Have also tried Internet Explorer, as well as my usual Firefox.

Do you use a router? Maybe a complete RESET would cure it?

  • No router.
PC ---> USB Speedtouch ADSL modem ---> phone socket.
Now about to completely uninstall Zonalarm, SPybot & Spywareblaster. Cclean the PC and registry, install Opera browser and re-boot...
  • You say that both your desktop and laptop wont connect to confused.com, how do you connect to the internet? if you use a router (wired or wireless) check out its settings as this could be blocking you.

Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view
  • Unplugged the modem from the PC and plugged it into the laptop. The modem powers off at every reboot as it takes power from the USB port. Deffo not a router.

EDIT: now here using Opera. Zonealarm uninstalled, as is all the anti-spyware stuff (undid all changes before removing). Just AVG anti-virus left.
Ran Ccleaner on cache, cookies and registry.

Still can't access the site. Nothing in the registry matching "confused".

There appears to be no other blocking apps installed/running. Pinging resolves the IP to 83.138.159.19. does that look right?

    Just totally puzzled.
