wrong Postage, Bah!!

My fault..grr..I put in my listing postage as £4.50 which was an estimate  Now i've packed the goods up ready for when the item finishes and took it to post office to check actual cost

It comes to £8.17  I knew it would be higher then £4.50 because of the weight of the box when i picked it up.

I have one bidder already, so i guess i can't change the postage costs can I?

Teaches me i guess..

Do you have more than 12 hours left? If so, you could end the auction early because there was a mistake with the listing (which is true).

If you do this, I would also suggest that you write to the bidder, and explain the situation, and tell them that if they are still interested, you will be relisting the item.

Can i ask him if he still wants to go ahead with it after i've edited it with the right postage? I'll have to put the postage in the description though

You could I guess. If I was doing it this way, I would point out to him that if he doesn't want to go ahead, he can retract his bid. I'd also include the link to the eBay help page that explains about Bid Retractions [HERE] .

Will he be able to leave me bad feedback if he does not reply to my email and i have to pull the listing? I've just emailed him to ask him, but in his feedback it seems he never replies. I've given him until 9am tomorrow morning to reply.

No, you can only leave feedback on auctions that you win.

If you allow the auction to proceed with the wrong post and packing shown then you will have to honour that post and packing to the winning bidder, even if you did email and warn him.

All you can do to safeguard yourself and to avoid problems in case a sniper wins the auction, is to cancel the current bids, amend your auction and relist. If the buyer found the auction the first time they should find it again the second time.

I sold somehting last week and realised at end of auction that in my hurry to list on the 10p offer day I had left 90p as post and packing on an item that actually cost me over £2.50 to post...my own fault and I just had to go with it.
