Darwinian natural selection will ensure property will once again boom.

I'm not saying it will boom over night, but boom it will in time.

Mortgage shortages should be seen in context against the wider landscape of Human need. Mortgages in time will gradually return, thats a certainty as individual Bank sales managers day after day are put upon from above to deliver better numbers by the board, who in turn are pressured by fund managers whos fund performance is available daily to punters / pension funds seeking high returns. They wont suddenly stop wanting high returns, just as we all dont stop buying Chineese goods even though it causes domestic unemployment 9I bet this very weekend you made some purchase decisions based on price).

Similarly in 10 years time if your pension / investment does comparitivly badly you might switch to another provider AND CAUSE MORE PRESSURE ON FUND MANAGERS TO EXTRACT BETTER RETURNS - you will not 'let a poor performer off' and thank him for being cautious.

DARWINIAN THEORY

As a life long nature nut I am reasonably well versed in the evolutionary process.
All organisms exist for a single purpose, and that is to pass on thier genetic material to ensure the continuace of the DNA. The organism itself is not really in charge, as everything stems from the cellular and quantum level.

All organisms compete for secure space, as in this manner the DNA is more likely to survive longer and be better able to replicate itsself through reproduction.

We cannot undue billions of years of evolution.
As such, your DNA tends to drive you to desire a secure, sustainable long term private habitat.:A

It is this evolutionary engine that drives most of us to want to own our own habitat. Given we live on an island, it is the case that property in areas of high demand will once again boom.

The only question is how long the next boom will take.

Darwin never wrote about DNA. DNA was only discovered by Watson and Crick in the fifties.

    And beofre you say 'but I have a brain, I am in charge, my DNA and its mollecular processes are not - consider this;

Did you tell yourself which particualr foods you enjoy and which you dislike?

Did you tell yourself to be an owl or a lark?

Did you decide which people you like as freinds? You did - how so? Calculations are made at a mollecular level that determine which types of freind we get on with.

Did you decide on which things interest you? You did? On which day? Again, you are not in control of these process's.

Darwin wrote of evolutionary processes and understood mollecular imperatives drove it. He just did not know the mechanics at the mollecular scale.

Interesting that the 'modern' Human appears to be considered a mutant/anomaly, as we are being reduced to the lowest common denominator likely to revert to "missing link" status or earlier in double-quick time, as a result of government policies and its breeding programmes, presumably driven by cellular impulses.

Interesting that the "modern" Human is considered a mutant/anomaly, as evidenced by trollius sapiens appearing in this forum...will the horse-mutant replace homo sapien?

Darwins main theory was the survival of the fittest - if you're a zebra and your slow, the lion will catch you therefore you're more likely to survive and pass on your genes if your a fast zebra. The fast zebras live longer and have more zebra children (?) who also are fast.

Doesn't really work with housing. People who can't afford housing don't die, they just get a council place and pop out a kid a year which the rest of us mugs pay for. Therefore if you follow darwins theory soon the world will be full of folks who reckon that the country owes them a living, and the lot dying out will be those who work our asses off and are too tired and poor to afford nursery fees

It's nothing to do with Darwin. It's from the ten commandments. Greed will kep people in check while prices fall. Then Greed will kick back in causing prices to boom again.

Only rules to maintain lending multiples will help curb this, then eventually Greed will find a back door to avoid or manipulate these rules.

Let's hope next time we don't have a Greedy Government too - then they may not be caught sleeping at the wheel.

In the end demand is driven by evolution. We desire habitat.

Did you manage to get good reductions? I think you put offers on repos? Is it worth putting in 30-40% less than asking price on new builds?
