  • Hi, i cant believe how Yell has made it their policy to make money by scamming customers out of large amounts of money. Luckily after reading this post and so many responses i know not to fall for their tricks. Unfortunately i have already been burnt through same scam which is also being adopted by Thomson Local. Their sales person made several claims and even showed me online what he was promising so i thought i'd give it a go. Once payment was taken from me, i could not get any help from them, they did not provide the services they guaranteed and the person who deals with my calls is rude, unhelpful and obviously put there to answer customers who have already fallen for the scam. Trying to research if i can get any kind of legal action. Do not purchase advertising from Yell.com or ThomsonLocal.com You will be sorry if you do.
  • I reluctantly signed up for an advert last year with the understanding that I would have a call counter service to guage the response. On renewal this year, mysteriously the call counter statistics had disappeared along with all data from my previous advert. Now, after a written complaint and now that its too late to cancel this years advert the statistics have amazingly materialised showing that I received only 26 calls in the year, approx £17 per call is not value for money from my point of view, no wonder they witheld the data from me.
PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE, DO NOT TRUST THE YELL SALES TEAM

I have just paid £130 to infoserve (Whom represent Yahoo in the UK
They offered me exclusive advertising for my area & i have just discovered the same sales man has offered the same (Exclusive??) deal to 2 other local businesses identical to mine!!!
I have emailed them and written on their facebook page but not heard back from them yet... Want to advertise with yahoo?? Don't be fooled by a free listing INFOSERVE will call straight away & going by what they have told me and my competitors they are misleading and lying over the phone right now, today in March 2013. Be warned!!
  • 1 of yells sales reps contacted me a couple of months back with regards to an add I had running with them trying to see if he could also get me to advertise in there book. At first I wasnt intrested as it seems most people use the internet as means to find what they want nowadays. As I explained to the rep that the current add that I had wasnt working and i wasnt willing to spend anymore money with yell but being a very good sales rep he convinced me otherwise. He said very clearly that the service they were currently providing me wasn't working and he proved that by showing me the hits my page had received. He then went on to show me results that the book was currently getting which in my opinion looked to be exactly what I was wanting to achieve. So the rep told me he could off set the current package I was getting against a new package which involves the book later on in the year and a differnt classification on yell.com where more people are more likely to find me. He also explained that the monthly direct debit will stop and restart once the book is published in November. Now this all seems to be a complete lie after checking my bank statement it appears hibu who was called yell have already started to take there payments which is 8 months prior to what I was told by the rep. So as you would I called yell to take up this matter only to find out that according to the t&c the direct debits start as soon as the first product comes live. Ive asked if I can cancel the advert that is due to come out in november but i got turned down because its part of a package even tho ive not agreed any art work. Can anyone shed any good advice on this matter or do I just have to go with it.

    All advice appreciated.
