I have £25k in Alliance and Leicester esaver2 account, if I put a further £25k in Bradford & Bingley esaver will that count as one bank? As I understand they are both owned by Santander.
Thanks

At the moment it seems that A&L and B&B are still separate banks. Eventually though, Santander will merge A&L and B&B into AN, but that will most likely take some time.0

B&B are currently covered by Abbey's FSA authorisation, while A&L are separately authorised, so they do not count as one - see this table.0

Not necessarily - this link which I have posted elsewhere confirms Baldur's message - that B&B is already merged with Abbey, and A&L is retaining its own separate banking licence......Eventually though, Santander will merge A&L and B&B into AN .....
