Potterton combi boiler-leaking just over 1yr old :(

My disabled mum has just got a potterton combi boiler (performa 28 model) put in just over a year ago, & know its dripping water :(. The engineers who fitted it are demanding £80 just to come & have a look!!!!:(:(:( . We have tried to tighten the joint where the water is coming out but no joy.
Can anybody help?!, is it worth contacting the manufacturer, just need to do this asap without is costing the earth. Thanks in advance :)
No one said it was gonna be easy!

  • If it is leaking from a joint made by the installer then Potterton will not be interested. It is very mean spirited of the installer to take this attitude. You may have to cut your losses and in the event that you have to pay someone to come out and sort it out, pay somebody other than the installer. Assuming you or anybody else hasn't in any way tampered with the installation, any compression joints made by the installer should last, and it's reasonable for you to expect them to last longer than the statutory 1 year warranty period.
