It all comes down to usage... when I suggested Nonoh I based it on 200 minutes free per week (i.e. about 850 per month). As mentioned above, other Betamax providers like VoipStunt offer 300 minutes per week (about 1300 per month). If this is exceeded, you are charged 1p/min (I think) to 01 numbers. So we can add another 224 minutes to match the spending on Skype.

So, if you are likely to exceed 1524 minutes of calls to uk landlines per month, Skype works out cheaper. Otherwise VoIPStunt or similar would be cheaper.

One interesting point is that the websites of the Betamax companies indicate that the fair usage policy of 300 minutes is monitored per IP address. I would expect them to monitor usage per user account, which would make much more sense - maybe they monitor user account and IP address, I'm not sure. However, if you have a dynamic IP address from your ISP it would be worth resetting your modem/router to see if you get another 300 free minutes...

If you have to top up every 120 days, how did 3 years cost you £10?

You don't 'have' to top up.

You can top up once a year if you wish.

Just use it for the free destinations for the 120 days and then after 120 days don't top up and just use up the credit you have remaining.

You have the choice to top up again or not, you are not forced to.

As I said I had free credit given on my mobile for no cost and as easyMobile was closing down it was either use the free credit or lose it, so I used it to top up my account with - you can credit with a maximum of 365 free days, so I used as much credit as I could on VoIPStunt to get a years of free calling and also had that much credit - in fact I still have credit left from that top up. I topped up other VoIP accounts too and also gave credit away to the text 2 charity SMS services.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
