Running a disco from PC

Can anyone tell me if it is easy to run a disco from y laptop. The school wants a halloween party but we have no DJ. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Use a music player and set up a playlist with the songs you want. Winamp will let you do crossfading between the tracks and enqueue any requests you get.

    You could also take a look at this;

    OtsTurntables - Freeware from www.otsturntables.com

    Works very well and looks quite good also.

    You will need a power amp for the speakers too.:D

    I have an ancient, but good quality stereo with an amp and powerful speakers - is there any (cheap ) way to run my laptop through it ?

    Thanks for all your help - have now managed to get PC to run through amp using the cable as mentioned. Looked at otsturntables but way over my head ! Anyway have added my playlist to winamp - one last question - is there any way to fade from one song to the next ?

    Thanks again for all your help ....

    This may not be enough for a disco. Sound can easily get lost especially with a lot of people it a room. It will depend of what you mean by "powerful".

    the amp n speakers are gonna be what determines a good disco, software like Pcdj or Djred are perfect for the job, but you will need an amp with a line input to appreciate the audio.

    have you added this

    http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/32368

    A fast & smart crossfading output plugin, perfect for radios, parties or what ever!
    SqrSoft. Advanced CrossFading v1.7 can crossfade two songs, the one Winamp is playing and the next in the playlist. The crossfade is made by analyzing sound level of the last seconds of the song to determine the best mix point, applying the level envelope curves to the beginning and end of the tracks.
