Individualised budget - what is it?

I have been told that my local authority is assessing disabled people in need of care, for a new scheme called an individualised budget, which is said to empower people to manage their own budget and pay for the individual help they need.

Does anyone have any info, good or bad and know if other benefits may be affected by it.

many thanks

The following link gives information about individulised budgets

If you want information more local to where you live your local Council should be able to provide further details.

Thanks for the link, but it doesnt give much information for the disabled person. I think this system may become widespread if found to be money saving for the council.

I dont have much faith in my local council and would rather find out about it on here first.

If you so not get any further replies here you could try youreable.com as I know there are people there who know about and receive direct payments from Social Services.
