TV keeps pixelating

Hi my rear projection tv which is about 7 years old has started pixelating more and more often over the last few days is this the end or could it be the cable playing up? we are with virgin no probs on the upstairs tv which also has its own cable box

Can you swap your cable/digibox from the tv upstairs and try it on the rear projection TV, see if that cures it, if so its the cable/box at fault.0
