AA breakdown - friend got good prices!
Hi - I thought I would tell you about my friend (and now my inspiration for all things moneysaving) and the AA.
Our car broke down on the way home from a night out and she stepped in and used her AA cover to help us out. She had only renewed a couple of days before and already negotiated 20% off on the phone.
The AA man couldn't fix the car and it needed towing (we were a long way from home too!), he said it would cost £40 to upgrade her cover to get us towed home and another £40 service charge (not sure what this was!).
She went off with the AA man to his van to phone HQ and sort out payment. She came back 5 minutes later having paid £12.95 to get us towed all the way home!!
All she said was that she would pay the £80 if she had to but had been with the AA for a number of years and would appreciate them doing it cheaper! The AA man said it was a genuine breakdown and I think felt a bit sorry for us too, and between him and the person on the phone reduced the price by £67!
It seemed that alot of it was down to the man in the van that turned up - so be nice to him!!!:T
