Hi
My PC is struggling on 256mb of memory so I want to add more though I haven't attempted this before. I have checked and there are 3 slots only one of which is being used. The current memory is 256mb PC3200 DDR SDRAM. Is this all of the information I need to buy the extra memory, I have looked on Dabs and eBuyer and the amount of information is a bit overwhelming.
Any advice appreciated.

That should be sufficient. Most buyers don't need to go into all the specs as they're usually buying the cheapest

Try the crucial memory selector if you just want to select and buy without worry.0 -
Thanks for that, yes, the cheapest is what I seek! Some of the one's I have looked at show 400mh but, I think, my current memory is 200mh, does that make any difference?
Cheers

Buying anything slower than 400mhz should be fine, your pc currently runs at PC3200/400mhz,but...
The only thing you'll find is if you mix memory of two different speeds it will only run at the slowest speed, ie mix PC1600 and PC3200, it will run memory at PC1600 .
Go to https://www.ebuyer.com for memory (its the cheapest store), you should be able to get another stick of memoty for about £25, PC3200 is becoming the easiest and most common memory speed.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
3200 is always on offer at aria
for about 12 quid a stick
