Hi,
I rescued two 8 week old kittens and have had them for a week. They are bright and bouncy and doing what they should (being mischievous!!LOL).The lady who I got them from said that she had been feeding them adult cat food but I had some specila kitten food in so started them off using that and then went onto adult food- now today one of them has a VERY upset tummy- diarriah (sp??)but other than that is fine and is still playing eating and drinking ok.
Any ideas what I should do- the other one is fine.
Thanks

Tried worming them? When i got my kitten she had a bad case of worms that gave her the runs. Appart from that maybe switch to kitten food after all it is kinder on their tummies.

Opps re read op seems you switched to kitten food could also be a case of you switched foods too quick sometimes they can get a funny tummy from that

poss is worms...yuck!.....have to go to vets pretty soon with them anyway for jabs etc.
Will let u know.....
P.S can you buy worming tabs for kittens without going to the vets??? That may be quicker as I've no chance of getting to the vets this week due to work.....0 -
I'd take them to the vet (both of them) and get them checked overBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles

Best to always do a change of food slowly some animals tolerate what you feed them no problem at all but some are sensitive and need more care taking.
I took a rescue kitten two weeks ago, she was eating Iams and Whiskas so I've been mixing the Whiskas with the food I want to give her and am doing the same with the Iams. Once the Iams and Whiskas runs out, I'll give her purely the food I've been mixing. She's tolerated it well so far and I don't think there will be a problem swapping her over.
A kitten with diahorrea can be a serious problem. It may seem happy and healthy but they can dehydrate like that *clicks fingers* and pretty soon you might have a seriously unwell kitten teetering on the edge between life and death. I don't want to scare you, but I'd be taking them both to the vets ASAP. It could be nothing, but it could quite as equally be something.
I appreciate you're working all week, but the majority of vets open early in the morning and stay open until 6.30 or 7pm, or perhaps you could get a friend or family member to take them?
You can get worming products on the internet (I'd personally go with this option as it's way cheaper!) and there's a sticky thread in this forum with websites on there. Hope you get kitty sorted. Don't forget their first jabs will be due when they're 9 weeks old.0
