Help with charging new ipod touch 8gb

Just bought a new ipod touch 8gb and tried to charge it with another ipod charger it just says not supported, we have tried a charger from the older version ipod touch but it still doesnt work any ideas what to use to charge it apart from the usb that comes with it, even my ipod dock music station doesnt work .
