How can a young person get a room?
Comments
-
You'll need to find him a room in a shared house to get it any cheaper.
A place on his room will be £350+ a month.
Some agents advertise available rooms in shared houses, try and avoid student ones as that influences council tax payments...you should be able to find around 225-300 in most areas for room and shared facils.0 -

Try a ad in a free papers or noticeboard in a supermarket, he might get a lonely granny offering him a cheap room. Is he is a member of a club or church group etc? What about a friend's of his or yours taking him in?0

I got my first bedsit looking in newsagent windows in north London.
Certain areas will obviously have more than others.Been away for a while.0 -
Location, location, location.
£350 for a nice single bedroom or a not as nice double bedroom sounds about right for anywhere near a city centre/London.
Also in this day and age, at 19years old, on minimum wage, was he seriously expecting a houseshare room to be affordable?
I suggest he save for the deposit, act responsibly and he won't have a problem seeing that deposit back.
Unfortunately from a Landlords point of view unless it's student housing, his age, his income, his lack of previous Landlord references, wouldn't put him at the top of the pile for potential tenancy candidates.
Maybe he should stay at home? Save? Wait until he's promoted/got a better job?0 -
any b&b's nearby? may welcome a long stay guest, if only for a couple of weeks until something better sorted..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0
