Will the govt continue to be able to guarantee £50k savings are safe?

As above, will it be affordable as things are developing?

    Yep, you'll get pieces of paper with £10 printed on them. Two will needed to buy a loaf.

    If we do run out of cash then we can always borrow it off the IMF we had to do that in the 1970s

    Yes, but I'm not so sure they will be able to continue to compensate the whole balances in excess of £50,000 as they have been if things get really bad, much as they would like to. I think that is why they refuse to guarantee to cover the whole balance (unlike Ireland) and just say it unofficially instead.

    So I suggest keeping balances below the magic figure for extra safety.

    Yes, I think evryone from Martin to Joe Normal realise now that minimum risk is the game.

    So, now more "clever gambles" on what Martin called his dodgy banks.

    I imagine in the last week everyone has spread their savings to minimise risks and therefore minimise runs on banks.

    well the goverment has over 4 billion in icelandic asserts frozen at the mo according to reports so enough to pay everyone
