Some of their accounts don't look bad. Anyone know who owns them ... is it the AA and are they covered with the UK compensation scheme?

They come under HBOS (so does AA) which I would leave alone for now until the situation regarding the Lloyds TSB takeover etc is resolved. You'd have to make sure that you are withing the £50,000 limit in total for :- Halifax, BOS, AA, Saga, Birmingham Midshires (and maybe a couple of others that I can't recall).No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
