Please Advise On Housing Benefit & Rent?

I have just seperated from my husband and am about to put in a claim for Income support and housing benefit as I am currently unemployed,I have 2 children one aged 12 and my eldest is 19 and is a full time apprentice earning around £700 a month (takes home)
I need to know how rent and council tax he will be expected to pay,he gives me very little at the moment,and has his own car debts etc, please help any advise would be appreciated.:rolleyes:

    I think you may have to claim JSA rather than IS as your remaining dependent is over 12.

    He should pay half the council tax and a third of the rent. The official housing benefit deduction will probably be only £17 per week. A bargain (for him.)

    But make sure he is paying a decent amount for food and heating as well. I would expect a contribution of £300 and would not accept a penny less than £225.
