Capital One Bonus Saver - Any Views?

At some point I'm going to need somewhere to put my repatriated Icesave funds. Does anybody have any good/bad views on the Capital One Bonus Save account?

Thanks

    Don't drop below £500.

Variable rate so they can screw you later in the year - keep an eye on the rate and be prepared to jump ship.

Other than that, seems good to me.

Thanks for asking this - I asked the same question yesterday in a new post but don't think anyone read it! :)
I have put some money recently into one of these accounts but Capital One doesn't get talked about much. Any ideas on its stability being of American parentage anyone? (I know its covered by the 50K)
  • Why are these always for NEW savers only - how about LOYAL ones....!!!!

I'm not a saver here, but this kind of offer annoys me with my main banks....

I agree, it's getting to be a real pain. I find myself having to look at some of the more obscure offerings these days.

  • has been working fine for me. Seems to accept faster payments - though it doesn't seem to do it over weekends, only working days. that has been my experience anyway.

Comment re. new savers: agree in general. But in this case isn't it also their first entry into savings market? Not sure; I have had a credit card with them for a while.

Can't remember who their parent company is, sorry. Anyone knows, post it.

It looks as if maybe there isn't one:

  • Service from experience is excellent + freephone number availability.

20.00 account opening incentive via Quanti Cashback Site as well.

Thanks, yep I remember now. I did look at it before opening, but had forgotten.
  • Yes they have their own US parent, but the bit we deal with is a UK company and hence covered by the FSCS guarantee

I see that they are an american owned company, so does this count as a UK based account (full 50k), or is it part of the dreaded passport scheme?

Whoops, thanks Squibbler, you've answered the question.
