So what banks/investments are still British?

Having just got my funds out of KE after an awful week trying to follow advice and go British. Very confused as most bs I track back are no longer British.Can someone help me out please.

    Many thanks. That would explain why I'm having trouble finding them. Assuming HBOS and Lloyds merge - not a lot of choice.

    There are others, eg the Cooperative Bank

    Apparently it is currently in merger talks with the Britannia Building Society.

    All UK building societies can go on your list, I should think.

    What does 'British' mean?

    I'd like to know - but having just looked at their websites can't find out - whether the likes of Abbey are UK incorporated. I know they are part of Santander group, but that doesn't mean they are not a UK incorporated company. Ditto Alliance and Leicester.

    KE was UK incorporated which is why the authorities were able to do what they did. Icesave was not, which is why they couldn't.
