Dead tumble dryer

Out Candy dryer has just died - there is power (light on) but nothing else works. Pretty sure the problem was overheating due to fluff in the rear vents.

At the back of the machine there is an easily accessible cover containing what looks like a bi-metallic strip fixed by two small screws - I am guessing this is the thermal fuse for the machine exhaust. The fact that there is a large hole at the point of contact with the machine suggests it has failed.

Why can I find no reference to this 25 by 5 mm (ish) strip in any parts catalogue ? - I remember seeing the same thing our last dead dryer (we get through white goods like other people goods through cornflakes). Someone out there must encountered this before.

Dependant on your ability, you could 'short' or bypass the thermal cutout to make sure that is the problem before spending out. don't try and run without it tho. Just for testing.
