It's 45 days for a straight claim for itemnot received or item signifanctly not as described, but can be up to 6 months for a claim for fraudulnet use of a card.
Sellers now have more protection for claims under the new rules that came in this month Marty J has posted a very good checklist on the useful tips sticky thread.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I emailed the buyer as i still coudn't find a phone number and just got this reply
Hiya
No don't worry I'm sorting it. It's a paypal error. I had reached my limit of transaction through the year and you then have to go through a security process. During this time the used a second funding option which is a closed credit card. I didn't realise this until I got the chargeback email the other day.
I'm sending letters and faxes off in the post etc tomorrow.
Please don't worry.
Thank goodness for that, even so i think they could have informed me as i was a little worried it still will take a long time to get my money back but at least i know i should.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys

Still be careful here, you still can't sit back and do nothing as if for any reason this is a scammer and they can get you to the end of the disput eperiod without repaying you will lose. You need to keep on top of this, a genuine buyer won't mind a telephone call after a few days asking how it is going. In my own case th ebuyer kept prevaricating, apparently they tried to speak to their CC company but then forgot etc..and it wasn't until I phoned them regularly and submitted every single bit of info I had to paypal that I finally won the case, paypal insist that my buyer never did actually sort it out.
You must get the telephone number, if it isn't there on request then be worried . Log safely into ebay , then into advanced search, then on the LH margin 'find contact info' then go from there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've just had exactly the same thing!! I sold two tickets on ebay through paypal on 1st September and just had an email today to say the credit card company disputes the payment. Fortunately I still have a receipt for recorded delivery- however can anyone advise me cos in this case it seems it's the payment that's in dispute not the delivery?!?
I'm surprised because paypal has put my account into debit, however the payment was placed into my paypal account. Doesn't the fee I give paypal to accept funds not cover me for circumstances like this?!?
Not sure what I pay them a fee for, if the fraudster/ customer is able to dispute payment after- I would've thought that paypal's security is an issue if it's not a legitimate account or has been misused as the payment was sent to me??
Can anyone clarify this for me please!!!0 -
yep same problem as me. I'm getting worried again as i requested the buyers phone number days ago and i haven't heard or recieved a thing! We only have 10 days from the start of the dispute to respond and give details and proof etc there is only a few days left now so i think i will have to contact paypal to see if the buyer has sent all the info he said he would.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys
