It is best to have face to face advice and you can get this from the CAB, local Council and disability organisations such as DIAL.0

the benefits and work website has some excellent info on dla(amongst other things)although to download its guides you need to be a member which i think is now around £18 per year, personally i found it excellent h**p://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/0

CAB or welfare rights will help, - also many local disabiliy organisations can help too (eg in Newcastle it's Disability North)
IF you have to appeal - ask one of the above for assistance - takes away alot of stress and you have a better chance of getting it apparently...and less stress means less flare ups lolIf my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
I got fantastic support from Cerebra and the autistic association in filling my sons form in. If there is a support group for whatever reason you are applying, they will usually have advice and leaflets regarding the points you need to make filling out your forms.
Also let the people you name for contact on te form know you are applying,so that they are aware a request for info will be forthcoming (ie GP,specialist, social worker.)Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
There used to be a good website called BHAS but that has gone. Another I found is http://www.benefitsnow.co.uk/apply/dlaapply.asp
The main thing I would say is not to understate your needs. Repeat yourself in the various sections of the form. Say for example you know it is best if someone is around when you have a bath, say you might fall, or slip then say on the form you need to have someone to help or to have the door ajar in case you have a problem. If so you might need similar help in the kitchen if you could become unsteady or fall. Same is true for when out and about.
When you get the form, make a copy of the blank form before you fill any of it in. Then fill in your copy in pencil, changing it until you are happy that you have made your case fully and comprehensively. Then copy what you have already written in pencil, onto the real form in ballpoint pen.0 -
Take as much time as you can filling out the forms,do as much research on the internet and when you have finished make sure you photo-copy the lot before sending it back by registered post0
