Britax First Class Si on a Plane

We are flying to the States in December with Continental and have booked a seat for our 12 month old and have to use a forward facing car seat. We are about to purchase a car seat so want to buy one which is suitable for the plane and also the car.
Has anyone used a Britax First Class Si on a plane? I know the width of the seat is fine but I am a bit concerned about the depth. I will call Continental Airlines to confirm but wondered if anyone had any experience.
Thanks

Id advise getting a bulkhead and using the bassinet.
Or is it more of a case of wanting your little one to be strapped in? It might be worth pointing out actually that flights to the US and within the US no longer allow for the use of child safety belts attached to the adults.0 -
We have booked a seat because we couldn't face a flight holding her for that long, I know American airlines encourage the use of car seats rather than babies on laps. I also feel it is safer for her to be strapped in. She is too big for the skycots.0

.....
I recall hearing somewhere that the whole child car seats on flights operated by US airlines is a minefield, so please do your research. I beleve Murphy of the pie club may well be able to help?

I did see someone using a car seat. But they do have to conform to certain standards etc.0 -

The issue is more likely the FAA guidelines.0 -

On Continental airlines they are only allowed up to 22lb she is nearly that now and we don't go for 10 weeks so it is not an option I'm afraid.0 -
Going to have to check with Continental Airlines. I mustn't be the only person in the UK to have travelled with Continental and used a car seat manufactured here. At least I know the size will be OK
I had a connecting flight whilst in the US recently from Birmingham to Denver and i overheard a conversation about recent legislation regarding child restraints. I asked the stewardess how far the FAA had gone (since i have 3 children and we regularly travel to the US) and she explained that the FAA had actually gone as far as to outlaw child seat belts that attach to the adults belt (which of course in the UK we still use)
I for one would certainly recommend calling CO to find out what the current situation is.0
