What do you mean ? If my use of the word 'new' - I agree not a useful word to use - they just said money from an external account.0 -

I get the same screen as Milarky, and to me that means that the additional money I deposited via my Direct account is receiving the bonus rate until March. I don't know how it could be interpreted any other way, and the little interest paid until the end of Sept would seem to confirm this. I only deposited towards the end of Sept., so it's not conclusive, perhaps, but I'm quietly confident. This was, of course, the money that I had liberated from Icesave, having seen the writing on the wall. Well, it was plain enough, you would think, for anyone keeping an eye on their wedge. Fooled some though, didn't it!0

Sounds like another sign that the 6.6% AER is fixed until March?Milarky wrote:ING Direct Web Saver Account-XXXXXXXX
Bonus interest rate of 6.41 % on balances over £ 0.04 until 02-Mar-2009

Current variable interest rate of 4.89 % on balances up to and including £ 0.04
Interest earned during calendar year (£): 0.01
Tied Savings Account: YYYYYYYY0 -
Can anyone please explain why the AER is 6.6% but the gross interest is 6.41%?? I just can't understand this!0

I interpreted my invitation bumpf as specifically saying that money could also be moved in from the Direct Saver account to qualify, and anything over my balance amount in the Web Saver on 2nd September qualified, so I'll be miffed if it doesn't. I read the whole thing carefully to make sure there was no mention of existing ING money being exempt. I kept the literature so I'll check again this evening.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0

The rate has probably gone done by 0.5% today. Rates on the standard ING account have according to emoneyfacts but they didn't mention the Websaver (with or without bonus) as this is a 'non-marketed' account (you can'y open one..).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

Bumpf says: "Transferring money into a Web Saver is easy. You can now put savings directly into your Web Saver using either a bank transfer or cheque. Simply make sure that you clearly state your Web Saver account number when instructing either payment. Alternatively you can move savings through your ING Direct Savings Account."
Nowhere does it say that existing money moved from the Direct Savings Account does not count. It just says "any savings you put into your Web Saver over the amount you held on 2 September 2008, will earn the bonus rate until 2 March 2009"A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0
