When I am shutting down my PC it attempts to end a program called sprtcmd.exe then I get a message saying it is not responding then I have to click "End now".
This has only happened in the last week - any idea what this is and how I can stop it.
Thanks

sprtcmd.exe is a process from Belgacom belonging to SupportSoft sprtupdate. This is installed by some ISPs , what ISP are you with ??
also seems to be something Dell use for Dell support center , you could disable it from startupEx forum ambassador

I'm with Orange.......
It is a Dell PC I have0 -
then it's the Dell support centre , it just checks for driver updates etc (which you can do yourself from windows updates)
use msconfig
http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html
to stop it starting, if you ever need it then just use msconfig again and re-tick the itemEx forum ambassador
