I am looking for a decent budget pc either base unit near £250 or with monitor for near £300. There is an ebuyer.com machine offered at £220 + VAT with XP home, 256 RAM, 80HD and DVDRW.
Does anyone know if other suppliers are offering more for less at the moment?
Very grateful for any tips or advice. Thanks
PS is this the right board for this?!

You could try this code from Dell which is a 299. You may find that this has been discussed in other places on the boards with more analysis already...

Yes, simpleton99, this is the correct board for anything related to computers, televisions, websites, Internet, e-mail and anything else technical.
If it is this machine you are looking at from eBuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...oduct_uid=95743) then I would say it is worth it. Just remember it doesn't come with a monitor - you have to buy that separately, or buy the bundle deal and save £10 - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...oduct_uid=95745 (This is for the same PC, but has a monitor with it. The difference is if you were to purchase the PC and Monitor separately, you would pay £10 more than what you can get them for with the bundle deal)0 -
Thanks for the advice on this. Looks like the Dell offers more with a flat monitor and free printer at £299 against the EBuyer at £264 inc VAT and delivery.0

but closer examination shows 3 week delay for monitor unless you upgrade to the 17", so for Christmas it has to be the Ebuyer!0
