PETROL Golf Plus

I was originally looking for a 1.6 PETROL Golf Plus but usual sites ...Autotrader / ebay / Parkers etc dont seem to have many around. What I have seen are a few 1.4 Petrol ones.
My instinct tells me that this engine could be a little under powered but reviews on Parkers speak quite highly of it.
Anyone have any comments, good or bad, on the 1.4 Petrol Golf Plus.?
