Halifax CC letters to the deceased

Just a heads up for anyone this may affect.
I received a Halifax credit card bill for my mum today stating that she owes £303.33. She died in September last year and I paid her credit card off in full November last and had a letter from Halifax stating the account was closed.
When I phoned they said that there had been an error and lots of deceased persons have mistakenly been sent statements requesting payments and to just ignore the letter.
Still a bit upsetting though!

Had a lot of problems with Abbey when my Dad died,my whole family closed their accounts with them taking a good amount of money out.
Dont get mad,get even !I have a deep burning indifference0 -
Their customer services must be over run with upset callers after that, what a stupid error!0

Thats shocking, you would have thought they'd have a system set up so this so called "error" doesn't occur. It's not like it only happens in a blue moon, you hear about this stuff in the media every now and again.
Pretty poor if you ask me.
scott_lithgows you done the right thing, like you say don't get mad get even!0 -

In the circumstances does it really matter? How is that question helpful?0 -
I had the same with Halifax after my husband died last year, went in with death certfcate and still get letters from them in his name, am in process of closing account with them."In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance.0

Same problem with Halifax. Three months after my Mum died, I'd already closed the account, they sent her a "special life insurance birthday offer" to "celebrate her reaching xx years old". "No medical required!".
Sadly she never made that birthday. I sent it back to them with a snotty letter but never heard a thing in response.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
