Washer/Dryer D&G protection Plan

Hi All.
I have an Indeset Washer Dryer that is just over 5 years old.We have an Annual Protection Pklan through Domestic and General that has been worth every penny becuase it has been repaired 4 times in the past 2 years! (The drum bearings). The engineer said it is not gonna last much longer.
I come home from shopping today and as the cycle end light is flashing I go to open the door but it is stuck. I yank hard and the door handle snaps off! I open the door with a knife pressing on the catch and find that inside there is still water in the bottom of the machine. I get the clothes out, manage to close the door and try to drain the water but it just makes funny noises and smells of burning plastic. I have unplugged it!
So now I have a machine that was on its last legs anyway, and now has a broken handle, is full of water and the electrics have gone! Engineer is coming Tuesday morning and I am sure he will write it off. My question is, What happens next? How long do you think I will be without a machine?
Should I start sourcing discount codes and getting reviews on new models or are D&G gonna say heres £100.00, get a new one from Comet?
Sorry for the long post, rambeled a bit!

Have you checked the small print - is there a "replace if we can't repair" clause? I have D&G policy too, and my machine is getting a bit elderly and the last engineer who came out said I should keep going as long as they are prepared to offer that clause.0

Yeah, it is a repair or replace. Problem is, I do not want to be without a machine and I have a feeling the replacement procedure could be lengthy.
I have also heard that if a machine is over 5 years old, they only give you market value of about £100.00!0
