There is also the factor that sellers want the highest price possible (I know these VB jeans were £180 3 months ago, so I want £150 for them now - based on a true recent experience), whereas buyers are still out for grabbing bargains.

Said Vicky Beckham jeans actually went for £60+p&p. Friend was gutted. Serves her right for being a fashion victim!!

  • i always give a low to high estimate, and sometimes people are a bit shocked. recently i had a £700 RRP Amp which to their horror i said was worth about £80, and it sold for £77.

one of my first experiences was probably my worst. the client wanted rid of a load of stuff asap as it was costs hundreds a month in storage costs. i sold it for £280 with the thinking that although it was worth more he'd save twice that in a month of not storing it. he was not pleased at all, and after two heated discussions wouldn't take my calls again. leaving me to deal with a very annoyed buyer, who luckily with some heavy customer service from me turned out to be quite a nice, understanding chap.

where the service does seem to come into its own is when someone never gets round to selling an item (very common !), or simply have no where to sell it and they don't/can't use ebay.
