Relaxing?

How do you guys relax? I have two adorable kids, both under 3 and I am currently a full time mum. So time to relax, exercise (breathe ?) is in short supply. My little luxury is going out for coffee with my book and my journal
but I need to stop that now as money is very tight and we just cant afford it. So I need some inspiration for to get my fix of relaxation and mental stimulation! Somehow if I tried doing the same thing at home its not the same as there are too many other things vying for attention. Like the laundry!

Any chance of going to a local library? You could pick up a book at random to read, and then check it out. The little ones might give you 5 mins alone when they are looking at children's books.
I've been known to explain photosynthesis to my DS on the way to our local park - he was 9 months at the time...rofl. I know he didn't understand me, but if I was chatting to him, at least it wasn't nonsense.
I hope someone else has better ideas!The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
I find it really difficult to relax myself.
I listen to Glenn Harrold's hypnotherapy CDs. He's really good for a worrier like me!4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -
Try taking your book and a flask to the local park let the kids run around getting fresh air while you relax this is what i do and we all feel better afterwards.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

I have tried them but was rather distracted by his voice, it has a Steptoe-like quality about it!
Paul McKenna's CDs are better I find...but I always expect him to finish with "you're back in the room" and am disappointed when this doesn't happen :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: !Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

hi
i shall be watching this with interest, sorry i dont have too many ideas but i'm in the same boat. I have a 16 week old dd and a 2 yrs 8mnths old ds and i'm finding it quite tough to relax at the moment. My dd wont sleep at all during the day and my ds is vying (sp?) for attention all the time.
However tonight for the 1st time in ages i managed to have a lovley bath as i got dd settled at 7 pm and started running the bath immediatley, then my ds came upstairs to go to bed and saw that i was about to get in the bath and insisted on getting in too  , but luckly after 10 mins he decided to get out and my dh got him to bed and then cooked tea, so i had a good soak.
The only way i can relax at the moment, is if i can persuade my dh to take them to the park or in to town for a walk for an hour on a saturday morning. But then like you i usually end up cleaning etc whilst i can.
I'm easily pleasesd as A hot cup of tea, a biscuit and just some peace for 1/2 an hour is my idea of heaven at the moment:oGrocery Challenge Feb 14 £500 / Spent £572.10!

my bathroom is my haven - I lock the door, run a hot and bubbly bath, put on my 'chill' music (serenade for strings or adagio for strings), put on a face mask, lay back and relax
Hubby and daughter know that I will not even respond to them if they talk to me through the door - it's my time and nothing disturbs it (unless Justin Timberlake came knocking at the door of course).0
