Is anyone else having a problem with Tesco credit card - standard not finest.
**LONG POST, BIT OF A RANT! **
On Sat AM, I couldnt obtain my transactions via the online service, thought it was a little odd, but hey IT issues happen all the time, so I rang instead for a balance.
I recently did a BT from MBNA, so only had £250 approx to spend, which isnt a problem as I've done most of my shopping and I would be BT'ing the money to A&L.
Didnt use my card till this morning, about £2.72 at Tesco which was declined. Again, thought it was odd, but sometimes the self-service acts up so I paid cash instead. Didnt have time to ring em at work, went shopping at Focus - item £19.99, again declined. Hmmm, thought thats odd, where's my £250 gone ?
Well, I rang and got a whole slew of excuses.
Tesco: You're over your limit
Me: No Im not, havent used the card since last Sun 27th Nov and made no large purchases, don't have a CPA and its not even possible that you've charged me interest as statements don't get prepared till the 10th.
Tesco: You must have made a large transaction
Me: Erm, no, doesnt it show up in pending ?
Tesco: I'll add up all your transactions and check. Oh, its because MBNA have transferred xxx to your card. You need to phone them.
Me: Oh, right OK.
<pause>
erm, not thats not right, how can MBNA do a BT to my card ? Surely thats something only you can do ? And, I only did the BT (to A&L) at 11am, the card was declined at 8am. The other BT (from MBNA) was done over a week ago.
Tesco: It is your MBNA BT, they've done it wrong... oh hang on, let me just add up all your transactions
Me: You can call me back when you're done... (quietly seething)
<5 mins later (to their credit, as promised)>
Tesco: A dept has put a stop on your account, I don't know why, there's no note, I'll have to call you back tommorow.
Me: You do realise this isn't exactly the best month for you to lock my account ?
Tesco: Sorry, there's nothing I can do till tommorow, they close at 5pm.
Me: &@!&* (once i'd put the phone down of course)
So... is it just me ? (feeling picked on
) I cant think of any reason this has happened as I've been really careful to stay in my limit

Try the mbna risk assessment division. I recently had my A&L Visa card (had it from the year dot) put into suspension because some one in risk assessment had checked my credit commitments and decided I had too much credit. By the way MBNA had invited me to apply for a 0% for 9 months card. I clear my A&L card (mbna) each statement and use it for day to day purchases. I had an mbna card with £6000 debit with 0% due to end December. My reaction to there and then clear close my mbna card and will close my A&L (£0 balance) card in January as soon as I get my £17 moneyback due to me.
No more MBNA OR ASSOCIATES FOR ME.

Thanks, I actually even more  as I found a letter had arrived asking me to urgently phone a dept in Tesco personal finanace. Annoyingly enough, the suspension went on on the 1st of Dec and they sent the letter 2nd class post
So annoying, they could have rang me or put a flipping note on my account, but nope, 2nd class letter. Then found at the dept closed at 6pm not 5pm, so could have spoken to someone yesterday - double  Ah well, will find out whats up today.
Don't think its MBNA as its Tesco who have suspended my acc, but could be a similar situation as I do have a lot of credit at the moment

Turns out they "claim" the switch payment I made on 23rd November hasn't cleared despite it showing on my online statement as cleared and on my paper statement and on my bank acc. They claim it could take up to 10 working days, anyone know if it's true ? My T&C's say 3 working days and so did the operator when I paid. Don't understand all the cloak-and-dagger stuff though
Had to speak to 4 people to get to the bottom of it. "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter
