Cheapest electric heater to keep my workspace warm

I am an artist and have a workshop/studio measuring about 12' square, large windows. I work from an old Victorian building. I need some heat as my hands are beginning to seize up, and some days I have so many layers on that I look like Michelin woman.
Please can somebody recommend a good cheap electric heater to warm the space?

Sounds as though your studio could be a very expensive pig to heat.

Do you own the studio or rent it?

Could you have night storage heaters on Economy 7?

To keep costs down can you conserve any heat? Appreciate you can't do much about the windows whilst working because of the light but can you cover them at night and is the ceiling / roof space insulated? Also any draughtproofing?

My pal has just bought a swivelling halogen heater for occasional use and says it is very effective in operation. That said, think insulation, insulation, insulation.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

If you own the building then yes INSULATE! :D

Also, think about creating a smaller working area, say 6' square by making stud walls, heat this smaller work area.

If you don't own it then halogen heat is definitely the way to go.

Any chance of posting pics of your work ( I'm nosey ) ;)
  • I don't own the studio. However, I have already insulated under the floor and the ceiling. I have draughtproofed where possible including putting large perspex sheets over the windows in winter. So don't want to spend too much more.
Making the space smaller is impractical as I use every inch and need more space really. Most walls have stuff on them which could be considered insulation, shelves with books and stuff.
I tried Economy 7 at my last studio and ended up trying not to go in during the winter it was so cold.
I am not sure how to post pics of my work, but all my work is here https://www.suelowday.co.uk
    Thanks for the suggestions.
