oh and another tip is that at the bottom of any letters from natiowide, if it was run by RBOS it would state so in any letters or T&C's:santa2:0

The credit card is administered from Southend, ie the old Access address, run originally by Natwest, who were taken over by Royal Bank of Scotland, ie RBS. Most of their cards including Mint are run from Southend, you will find it on the payment envelopes sent with the statment. All have postcode S99, Natwest ends in 1WJ, Mint and Tesco 1WL
The same way MBNA run Virgin, Abbey, A&L and a host of affiliate cards.
Swindon is the Nationwide Head Office.
Edinburgh is RBS H.O.
Lombard Direct as you say is run from Rotherham, but the old RBS card changed its name to Mint and was and is run from Southend.ac's lovechild0 -
When I applied online I didn't hear anything for weeks. I then contacted them and they said the forms had been sent out to me for signature a couple of weeks ago but they would send them out again. Received them a couple of days later (incidentally I also received a second set another couple of days later). Once I sent the signed forms in I got the card fairly quickly.
The saving on fees for international purchases is good. The things I don't like about the online banking section for Nationwide cards are:- It doesn't show oustanding authorisations (which Barclaycard does)
- Transactions take longer to show than on Barclaycard
- It doesn't have a pay by debit card option
- BACS Payments from non Nationwide accounts seem to take longer than expected to be deducted from the balance owing
- It would be nice to see when your next statement date is before you have any transactions. The date is only shown once you have 1 or more transactions for your next statement.

If you get a Tesco Saving account you can view the current transactions, etc. for the credit card.santana-mx3 wrote:Having said all that, I also have a Tesco credit card and their online banking only tells you the total balance on the card the last time they bothered to update it so if I compare Nationwide's OLB with Tesco's (instead of Barclaycard's) it's infinitely better!0 -

Also, non of the departments i.e. internet banking or branch or credit card talk to each so if you have problem u have to go to the corect department even if one of the others !!!! up ( they can't / won't do it for u).As i have found to my cost, shame as they've have good products.
Yes, departments do talk to each other!! The departments are separate so if you cant get the correct information from the person you are speaking to then they will refer you to the department you need.

But once it works, it works well...in fact, very well.....0 -
Before me and my girelfriend went travelling we both opened up nationwide flex accounts along with a nationwide visa.
I opened mine online and she went into a branch to open hers.
She had everything sorted, all cards pins and cheque books arrived in about a week.
Mine took over a month!
So if you want a nationwide account (which is great for overseas) then open it through a branch.0 -
Yeah, I never heard anything back from them about my online application so I went to my local branch. They found my details on the system, did all the credit checks there and then and I had the cards and pins within 2 weeks. Not bad at all really.mr_fishbulb wrote:So if you want a nationwide account (which is great for overseas) then open it through a branch.
Sometimes going to the branch is quicker than online...0 -

I used to have a Tesco Savings account. I had the credit card first. Then when I opened the Savings account in 2003, I was given different sign on details and my credit card account could only be accessed via the new logon for the savings account. I still only had a balance figure for the credit card with no transaction details. Perhaps they have updated their system for savings account customers since I closed my savings account (Feb '04) such that they get full details of credit card transactions.0 -
