hi folks,
hope someone can help as my sister has a medical condition which is a terminal illness and was thinking about applying for ib but i was under the impression that ib was no longer available to new applicats in edinburgh from october 7th 2008?
will she have to apply for the new benefit if she was to apply now for ib?

For new claims with a first day of sickness on or after 27/10/08, the claim will be for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). IB still exists for new claims before this date.
If your sister has an employer, she needs to claim SSP from the employer for upto the first 28 weeks.
If your sister is not employed, or cannot get SSP from an employer, then she can claim IB by calling 0800 055 6688 Mon- Fri.
