We've always had pretty low energy use compared to most because we've had cavity wall insualtion for years and refused to buy a tumble dryer because it's amazing how you can dry things, so long as you keep an eye on your timing.

However, EONs increase of £4 a month grated with me and kicked me into even further action. We are now 270mm fully insulated and have loose fill in our dormers too. We have low energy bulbs in most places - except where we need instant light - and turn off lighting.

I am now taking great pleasure in saving even more on last year and I think it's fair to say it is natural to become a meter watcher when prices go as high as they have but cut the slack a little when times are good. Same with fuel pump prices really. When they rocketed we started watching every single mile we did and making sure we took the most economic car for the journey. If prices fall, as we all hope they will, more of us will join you and be left with some better habits.
