First Direct Delays

First Direct are are swamped with calls. Was told today that a mortgage advisor would be able to ring me back on the 20th of October between 4 and 5 and if I was unable to take the call - a possibility given my job - I would need to rebook an appointment with a similar time frame! This is for the most straightforward remortgage it is possible to do. Be aware if you are on a tight time scale.

You must have just pinched that time off me
I was then given the following day.
The guy I spoke to said they have been stupidly busy  but if their products change tomorrow then you are still entitled to be considered for the product you've shown an interest in.
He also gave a time frame of 12 weeks to actually put a product in place!:j Mortgage Free!! )Generally trying to cut back where possible :j0 -
We were called a day or so ahead of the slot they had given us. We were also given a 10-12 week timescale to complete but that has now shortened to 6-8 weeks (in a week). Though our existing offset mortgage and accounts are all with them, so there's a bit less legwork to do.
June to Dec 10 OP - £217/£7500 -
i would say stick with it as the products and CS are second to none.
I would recommend you still call then everyday at 8am (i think they open then) as nothing to stop you proceeding if you happen to get through.0 -

The Mortage department isn't open 24x7."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Well, I must have been after you two then, because our call back time is on 22nd October!
I do have to say that, despite the lengthy time to 'set the wheels in motion', their advice has been very good and I even received a phone call back to clarify (after double checking) a question I had regarding changing the title deeds even though it is a remortgage.
The lead time for finalising the mortgage is a bit of a set back however, having scoured the market for the best deals, I am quite happy to wait.
Another thing I asked them to confirm, which makes the delay easier to deal with, is that they will reserve the product you wish to apply for even if it is withdrawn from the market before their call back, but this only applies if you take the call at the time specified otherwise you lose the product should it be withdrawn.0 -

I wasn't aware of that, we've never had a mortgage with them:o0 -

If I needed a mortgage it's the first place I would go but this place is paid for :j and I don't want to move.....0 -
After our remortgage enquiry for a tracker offset a couple of weeks ago an FD adviser called us back same day at 7pm. Guess the interest rate cut (plus the fact that FD are actually passing it on!) has got the phones busy. Think it is a deal worth persevering for though.0
