problem with lights upstairs

hiya
I'm having a problem with my upstairs lights and hoping someone has an idea of what is wrong.
I put the landing light on and the bathroom light on, it started flickering then went off and won't come back on.
It didn't trip the trip switch which usually happens if a bulb blows.
The bathroom light, 2 landing lights and one bedroom light will not come on at all but the other 2 bedroom lights are working fine.
I have had a look at the lights that aren't working and all the wires seem to be in any ideas please?

you need to check all the wiring in the ceiling roses upstairs.
sounds like a wire has come loose somewhere. its hard to find these things as you wont know the order of the circuit.
also check in the loft as you may have junction boxes up there.

The wires may be in but are the screws tight? The lights are chained together, so the loose connection could be in one of the working lights fitting. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
All the wires on the lights are tight and in, i just tried the upstairs lightswitch at the top of the landing the wires are tight but when i pushed it back to the wall to screw it back in the lights at the top of the landing were flickering when i wobbled the the lightswitch it flickered again so i undone each wire and put them back in tight now its not flickering again.
Could the lightswitch be faulty?0 -

Have you checked all of the upstairs light fittings? Even the ones that work could cause others not to work, due to the way that they are chained together. The light switch should not affect the other upstairs lights, even if it was faulty. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
How many cables are there going into the switch. If it is more than one (and possibly the neutrals joined together in a connector) then your wiring could be looped through the switch. A broken wire near the switch could cause the problem.0
