Cooperative Privilege/Privilege Plus

Normally my attitude to fee-paying current accounts is the same as Martin Lewis's - you're better off with free banking and getting those add-ons you actually need separately. But the revamped Cooperative Privilege/Privilege Plus accounts do have attractions. They have travel insurance which has much better cover for some people than the free A&L policy that I have. It's worldwide, covers winter sports, the family and the upper age limit of 80 is unusually high (although it won't cover preexisting medical conditions). You can also taylor the add-ons to your circumstances. I would go for the traveller option which includes 4 airport lounge passes (worth around £70). For those who move around with lots of electronic equipment there's a gadget insurance option You can also opt for an electron card to save on lowcost airlines. Finally, for new co-op customers there's £100 cashback if you open the account in branch during the next few weeks and pay £500 into it. That cashback would cover the £8.50 monthly fee for almost a year and, presumably, cheapskates could scarper earlier. The £100 is paid on 21 December. The Privelege Premier (£12 a month) is probably the better option only if you need motor breakdown cover for more than one car. NB do not keep money in these accounts. There's no interest, but, apart from the £500 for the cashback, no funding requirements either.

Do you have one of these accounts?
For some reason everyone I know who applies for a Co-op current account gets turned down.0 -

I upgraded to the Privilege Plus just yesterday in the Branch - really pleased with the co-op, plus they're one of the best placed banks out there at the moment0

I had applied for Coop Privilege premier account recently and was refused. They mentioned on their letter I may be overcommitted financially and if I am not happy I should provide more informations like last 3 months bank statements, savings accounts etc.
Finally I appealed and they accepted it :j as I had premium bank account with Santander and also fixed savings account as well.
The account is better compared to santander premium account and also I wanted to change the bank..Do you have one of these accounts?
