I'm in primary myself but have noticed that this government site looks rather useful. This page is the gateway to other sites including secondary so you can search for what you want. Hope its helpful ...http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/usefulsites/ :snow_grin :xmassign:0

you poor thing, hope you don't get too many unwanted presents from your primary school children, never mind you could always give them to a classroom assistant or donate to charity - would love to know where you preach must be Peckham - your attitude is the absolute pits0

Thank you for concern but all OK. Have now finally got them trained. When I broke up yesterday I was very happy to receive (amongst other items)11 bottles of very nice wine and sherry plus a couple of bottles of very good champagne. Must be an advantage of an independent school in a middle class area nowhere near Peckham.
I do feel however that your remark regarding the striving and underprivileged had a very unacceptable element of class bias for real teacher. What's wrong with Peckham?
Please write an essay to justify this for your Xmas homework.
30 years has also taught me a need to maintain a sense of humour and not take oneself too seriously, otherwise one has the survival prospects of a jellyfish in a blast furnace.
Best wishes to all the teachers out there :xmassign:0 -

I feel quite hurt after reading this comment, I myself am a 'Classroom Assistant' (Learning Support Assistant Actually), why should we get the unwanted presents, we are always looked down on by teachers, I now need to go and cry, perhaps the little lovelies I work with may give me an unwanted gift and I can then pass it onto to the caretaker.
Anyway I am looking out for sites to help with the P scales, resources are a big need as I have to think of and make them myself.
Hope you all have a :xmassign: and a great new year.

:santa2: This site is aimed at teachers and teaching assistants:
http:/ / https://www.clpe.co.uk/ welcome.html
If you go to the government gateway:
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/usefulsites/ and put primary (or secondary) in the lower box it comes up with a wealth of sites full of ideas.
On a personal note I love my T.A and couldn't function anywhere nearly so well without her. She is my right hand man, so to speak, and we work together very much as a team. I bend over backwards to make sure that she doesn't feel undervalued as like you she puts in that extra effort. Also the children badly need to learn about appreciating and respecting each other as individuals too, no matter the background. We need to set the example.........credit where it's due...... :xmassign:0 -
.......including anyone from Peckham.......0

Thank goodness for them! I would be a mess without these people working with me! I think they deserve better presents than I get as they do much more than their pitiful wage suggests. Above and beynd the call of duty springs to mind! :xmastree:0

Thanks for that, I just wish that others felt the way you do, at the moment I feel on the caretakers level. I just wish my teachers understood, I support with two girls who have learning difficulties (both age 6 working at foundation stage), I am trying to find materials to use with them (mainly language/literacy and numeracy).
I feel undervalued and like you said I do not get paid enough.
Any ideas though for the lang/lit or num would be greatfully recieved mainly foundation stage ideas please.

My name's Abi and I am not a teacher! Very grateful to those that are, mind
This was sent to me by a teacher, and all the teachers I've pointed to it think it's the wasp's nipples - get ready to teach your kids computer skills and French! But beware, you may spend more time exploring than they do...

Happy Christmas to teachers, assistants and caretakers everywhere, if it wasn't for you I'd have two kids at home all day and they'd drive me nuts
:TProud to be dealing with my debts :T0
