Gobbledegook email headers

Why do some of my emails have headers like this:
?utf-8?b?TW9ydGdhZ2VzIFNldCBUbyBHZXQgQ2hlYXBlciB8IFdoZXJl4oCZcyBNeSBLYXVwdGhpbmcgQ2FzaD8=?=
which was on a Motley Fool one received today. I had similar on one of the MSE weekly emails recently too, and there have been others.
Interested to know if this is a general problem generated by the sender, or if my machine is scrambling it in some way. The email contents are perfectly normal, it's just the headers that are gibberish.
Edit: I have no idea why pasting that example caused the subsequent font to be so small - sorry.

You have partly answered your own question re the font, that header tells the email prog how the text is coded
Do a WIKI on utf-80 -

Blimey that is much too complicated for me, but I'm sure it answers my question! Thanks for that, I'm sure it makes perfect sense to a techie.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
