Mounting a desk on a wall

Hiya,
I've got some spare white MDF from a knackered wardrobe that I was going to use to try and make a desk in the spare room. I could saw it to fit in the sort of u-shaped gap between the chimney breast and the window. The only question is how to mount it on the wall...
Having a look at the B&Q/Wickes website there's a million different types of bracket out there and no real suggestion as to what each type is for! I suppose I want something fairly small as I don't want them to be visible, but does anyone have any specific suggestions?
Cheers
Pete

I think the easiest and probably the cheapest would be to screw some lengths of 2x1" timber to the walls and screw the mdf down onto it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I agree with that with the addition of using some 'L' brackets to fix the MDF to the battens. This Space Is Available for Rent or For Sale. Please PM For Details.

Put battens on the wall around the three sides of the alcove A couple of fixings underneath at the back to secure the top to the frame would be all you need the get a serviceable desk top.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
