my husband has been on incapacity benefit for 8 years and also
received the lower DLA, He will be 65 next May, what happens then when he claims his pension. Does DLA carry on or does it stop.
He is disable because of sighit problems so needs help getting out and about.

Is the DLA lower care or for lower mobility?
Here is what help the aged have to say:

Were you receiving DLA before your 65th birthday?
If so, you should continue to get DLA if you need help with personal care, rather than claiming AA. You will only be able to get help with mobility if your problems began before you were 65. See the section below on DLA for more information. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
he was disabled due to 2 or 3 detached retinas when he was about 56.
he has had no sight in one eye for more thatn 20 years but has no
peripheral vision in his other eye since about 2001. His DLA is for personal care, as far as i knowmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It may be worth getting some professional advice from a welfare benefits/CAB office before he turns 65 next year. Once mobility is awarded it generally continues if the condition hasn't improved. DLA Mobility will only be given if the applicant is 65 or under. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
it will continue, but will also be reviewed at regular intervals, exactly as i assume it is now0
