  • Ohh if you don't mind it in cakes, then you should just try a sultana tea cake or something similar, or google sultana cake...

Try this one for instance, it looks good, and I have some sultanas around...mmm might make one tomorrow!!

I think the idea would be to add some sultanas into the mix, I often add choc chips, and don't really change the recipe much just add a bit less oats.
If the sultanas are a bit dried up (more than they should be IYKWIM) you could soak them in warm water/tea/fruit juice you get the idea ;)

you can also add them to porridge, or sprinkled on cereal.

Thanking you I thought I might have to change quantities or something or lower the oven temp. That's why I was unsure.

In the end I through caution to the wind and adapted my standard biscuit recipe and did this

    125gms marg or butter
    125gms sugar
    100gms S/R flour (normally 200gms)
100gms oats (in place of the flour)
150 -200gms raisins (I lied I thought they were sultanas)
    1 egg

Then I chucked in a couple of tablespoons of golden syrup because I'm stupid (I think this maybe is what ruined it)

    170 C (fan oven)

Now they tasted yum but they fell apart. Is that because of the golden syrup do you think?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should change the quantities or temp to stop them falling apart?

I still have the rest of the festering sultanas (which are actually raisins) to get rid off. :o

Do you think if I increased the flour and halved the golden syrup it would work ?

You can use up stale bread and soak it in cold tea, that's what my nana used to do.
