Spain in the winter?

I know its a lot colder in the winter in main land spain but its not that far too fly for a few days.

I was wondering if anybody could suggest where to stay in spain in Nov/Dec time. It would be even better if I could find somewhere that was really family orientated with indoor family type things, pool maybe? Or do they not have that kind of thing?

Many thanks.

Spain is wonderful at that time of year. We always go a couple of times during the winter/spring to the southern Costa Blanca. Flights are cheap then to either Alicante or Murcia, there are excellent deals on villas, apartments etc, and car hire is good value too. We like the Guardamar area between Alicante and Torrevieja.

I'm so tempted to point you a little closer to home.
When I was a kid (many moons ago) my family went to the Merton Hotel in Jersey for several years and the hotel has gone from strength to strength with £5 million spent recently on the leisure facilities, including an indoor, heated water park. ;)

I love this hotel. It holds many, many fond memories and Jersey has so much to offer. The island is only 7 by 5 miles and you can see it all very easily on the bus.
You can take the kids rock pool fishing at Rozel Bay http://jersey.blogs.com/rozel_bay_jersey/home/index.html

or take them to the wonderful Jersey Zoo http://www.durrell.org/Visit-Durrell-In-Jersey/Map-Of-Durrell/

or do a day trip to St. Malo, or visit Fort Regent, or Gorey Castle at Grouville.

I like Spain in the winter and often do Costa del Sol and Mallorca. I also love the Algarve, much more relaxed during the winter months, a lot cheaper and often decent weather. Hotel prices in the Algarve in the winter are pretty cheap for 4* and worth a look.

I would agree, been to Portugal several times in winter too. Not so many cheap flights, but car hire is cheap. Lots of places to visit there, and food and drink excellent and good value too.

It's a case of trying to see what you prefer. I love both places. Not sure the Jersey suggestion could compete on price, and certainly not on weather!

you could have a look at Salobrena in Spain-it is about an hour from Grenada and it has been known to have snow in the mountains in the morning for skiing which is a drive away and sunshine in the afternoon for sunbathing

Being retired I have spent the last 14 winters in Spain and Portugal, most of the time in Costa del Sol. IMHO winter in CDS is better than summer in UK. Saying that you can still get wet and windy weather,in fact it is wet and windy there just now. I have a small house in CDS and to give an idea of temperature I have had to put my 1kw electric wall heater on about 20-30 times in an average 6 month period from Oct-April. I had friends who visited one year for 2 weeks and it rained every day so there are no guarantees. The Algarve is cooler. You will certainly need jackets and jumpers for nights. Daytimes are fine. For families I would suggest the bigger resorts as they have more things open. Places like Benelmadena, Torremilinos and Fuengirola come to mind in CDS. Have a nice holiday.
