Entitled to any benefits?

Hi, I have just returned to work after 10 months maternity leave and found out they are changing shift patterns next April, I currently work 31hrs a week doing a variable shift pattern. They have proposed that I cut down to 26hrs a week doing fixed shifts, this would benefit me greatly as it would be so much easier for sorting childcare but i'm worried about the reduction in wage (my maths tells me i'll go from appx 22k a year to 15,500).

Does anyone know if I will be entitled to any benefits, my husband earns about £18k a year? We currently get child tax credits - (2 kids - 3 yrs and 9 months) Before I agree to these hours I obviously need to know how much money i'll be getting each month but feel a bit lost with working it out.
Thanks, Lynn

Are you sure your salary will reduce by that much?

It seems that you are reducing your hours by 16% but your reduction in salary is 29.5%

On those wages I wouldn't think you will be entitled to any extra help-I think once you go over £16,000 help tapers off.

I'm guessing there's a shift allowance to be removed as well ;)

    I did wonder that :)

But the OP mentions she will be on fixed shifts so will still be doing shift work so I wondered if it was worth double checking her calculations as I know my maths is shakey at the best of time :p
