We think our government is mean???

I spoke to my S-in-L today who works in a bank in Australia. The Government there reinforced that they would stick by their promise to honour savings in the banks. It works just like our limits of £50,000 (prev £35,000). Like us, most Aussies thought that ALL their savings were safe in the bank( not an unreasonable asumption!!!!). They're only just discovering that that has never been the case. They have more reason to be concerned than us though- their only guaranteed $20,000. About £8,000. My S-i-L has had a hell of a day at work, with people trying to get their money out. I think i would too. as it is, I'm riding the wave, surely it all has to settle soon. I'm sure it is all due to panic, when the media has someting else to chew on, the heat will be off. Where's George Michael when you need him?
